We haven’t been talkin’ up new releases lately because there truly haven’t been that many things to talk about. The end of the year can get weird and bands take the cautionary road by holding off until after the first of the year. Despite the lackluster amount of new releases, we do have something that might interest you. Kevin Hearn releases Cloud Maintenance today. Beyond Hearn’s work with Barenaked Ladies and with Thinbuckle he’s also toured as Lou Reed’s band leader and keyboard player, and as pianist with Laurie Anderson. He’s also played with the Rheostatics, the Look People, and even a band with his comedian cousin Harland Williams as, aptly, The Cousins. The harmonies and vocals may remind you of Iron & Wine or singer-songwriters along that line. Listen to ‘Don’t Shuffle Me Back,’ ‘Tell Me Tell Me, & ‘Always Changing’ (one of our favorites).
