NEW MUSIC VIDEO! King Khan and the Shrines Release Claymation ‘Darkness’ video
It isn’t often that you come across a psychedelic soul band that is charismatic, talented and sexually appealing. That one band is King Khan and the Shrines. Today, they released their video for ‘Darkness’, a trippy claymation, stop-motion production. The video begins with a strongman shooting the Human Cannonball from his canon and ends with the Human Cannonball presenting a an unknown heart onto the scales of justice before a Native American shaman. This creativity should come as no surprise from the band’s frontman and very worldly, Arish Ahmad Khan, better known as King Khan. Of Indian descent, born in Montreal and residing in Berlin, Khan explains that it was “fascinating” to watch the production of the video, created by a German animation collective known as, Hylas. The video was adapted from Hylas’ continuing stop-motion series entitled “Circus,” about a traveling circus trapped in a strange place.
After a six year hiatus in album releases,’Darkness,’ will be featured on their upcoming album, Idle No More, expected for release September 3rd via Merge Records.
