NEW VIDEO: Wooden Shijps – Lazy Bones

October 1, 2011 in New Video Release by rock6847

The more we hear this band, the more we like them. Wooden Shijps (pronounced shyips) is a quartet from San Francisco heavily influenced by the experimentalism of psychedelia, classical minimalism, and garage rock excess. They have been described as experimental, spacey psychedelic rock and have been compared to The Velvet Underground and The Doors. With the present resurgence of psychedelic rock, you just can’t go wrong with Wooden Shijps. Check out their latest video for ‘Lazy Bones’ off their first studio-recorded full-length album, West. This is a great way to start Saturday night!

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY! Dan Mangan – Oh Fortune

September 27, 2011 in New Release Tuesday, New Video Release, Now Stream This! by rock6847

Canada’s sharing a new breed of independent musicians with us! Dan Mangan, third effort, Oh Fortune is released today via Arts & Crafts. He’s unpretentious, hardworking and his uniquely gravelled voice conveys a rare type of honesty. To label him would be unfair, but indie-rock at times, alt-country, chamber-folk, a little bluegrass and string-soaked, orchestral pop at others. Mangan would say himself that he reveres innovative bands like Radiohead and Wilco. Dan Mangan has a few tour dates, click here, but you might want to get a taste of a live performance by clicking here. If you like Beirut, you will like this band. Below is the stream for ‘Row of Houses’, Oh Fortune and below that is the video for ‘As Helpful as You Can Be Without Being Any Help At All’
