LATE NIGHT APPEARANCES! Lana Del Rey on the Late Show with David Letterman (2/2/12)

February 6, 2012 in late night appearances, News You Can Use

Lana Del Rey performance on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago and the release of her debut album, Born To Die, have conjured up a massive witch hunt. Thankfully, she was able to redeem herself last Thursday night (2/2/12) with her appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman and a stronger performance of her hit song ‘Video Games.’

Despite the redemption she may have gotten on Letterman, SNL was ready to do more Lana bashing/defending in a ‘Weekend Update’ skit last Saturday night (2/5/12) with Kristen Wiig acting as the singer and attempting to explain her performance. We’ll let the skit do the talking after you get a chance to see her performance on Letterman below.

Be certain that people are being asked for their opinions about Lana Del Rey. Just recently, the Wall Street Journal asked that Liz Phair opine on the subject of Lana Del Rey. Read it right here.

As you may know from our previous discussions, Lana Del Rey, age 25, quickly rose to fame on the internet after her single received millions of views upon it’s debut August 2011. So, what do you think now?

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY! Lana Del Rey – Born to Die

January 31, 2012 in New Release Tuesday

Lana Del Rey, the online marketing maven and internet sensation of 2011 releases her debut album, Born to Die, via Interscope today, January 31st. For reasons that are unknown to most, her persona and music are in high demand. We have been following her road to success since September 2011, having posted her first single/video ‘Blue Jeans’, the haunting single/video for ‘Video Games’, and her live performance on Jools Holland of ‘Born to Die’. She was an innovator on Saturday Night Live, having been invited to perform on the late night comedy show even though she never even released an album. Plain and simple, Lana Del Rey is “package”, a pop music artist that has inspired everyone (all over the world) to keep up with her. Her sexy, sultry, smoky voice is alluring to the masses and no matter what critics say, SHE has the power. The only question remaining now, will the album be a true success or get passed over like a nerd on prom night.

Here’s additional proof that she’s not a robot:

LATE NIGHT APPEARANCES! Lana Del Rey on Saturday Night Live (1/16/12)

January 15, 2012 in late night appearances, Now Stream This!

Lana Del Rey’s Saturday Night Live appearance last night, was it warranted? Was it well deserved? These are the questions that are on everyone’s minds. The sultry, blonde beautiful pop sensation behind ‘Video Games’ has enjoyed a sky-rocketing ascent to fame via her viral marketing online, but does that really give her the credibility to perform on SNL without even having an album released yet? In her own words, Lana states, “I definitely think it’s an honor. … I don’t think they’ve ever had anyone [perform] who didn’t even have a record out, so I do appreciate it… [But I got it] because I’m a good musician. And I may not have a record out now, but I have been singing for a very long time, and I think that ['SNL' creator] Lorne [Michaels] knows that, and everyone over there knows that. It’s not a fluke decision.”

So, how did the performance really go? Did the ‘Born To Die’ singer knock this one out of the park or did it fizzle? We will let you judge for yourself. Check out the performances below and please, tell us what you think on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments below. We are curious to know what real people think about this real woman.

Ahhh, Lana Del Rey, the indie/alt rock internet sensation brings to us a new video for her single, ‘Born To Die’ which features tigers and tons of gratuitous make-out sessions. She is the female Chris Isaak, no? Born To Die is expected for release at the end of January via Interscope.

The title to this song seems gruesome, yet encourages us to explore further. YouTube sensation, Lana Del Rey, mentioned on her Facebook site, that her upcoming single would be entitled “Born 2 Die”. Lana Del Rey has taken a completely different approach to getting her music recognized and we sincerely approve. She’s not only beautiful, but quite talented.
