NEW RELEASE TUESDAY! First Aid Kit – The Lion’s Roar
January 24, 2012 in New Release Tuesday, Now Stream This!
First Aid Kit, two Swedish sisters devoted to indie/alt country rock released The Lion’s Roar on January 24th via Wichita. We like to refer to them as the “Fleet Foxes Femme”. Scandinavian sisters Söderberg reference Bright Eyes as an early influence, but as we reported in October 2011, they got early recognition covering Fleet Foxes, ‘Tiger Mountain Peasant Song’. We were first introduced to First Aid Kit when Jack White produced a a 7-inch last year as part of his own label’s Blue Series. With the release of The Lion’s Roar, their first album recorded in the U.S. with producer Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, they certainly have the chance to capture the hearts of every American. Be warned, their voices are like buttah! The title track, ‘The Lion’s Roar’ is a full bodied mix of folk music pressed up tightly against light and airy melodies. ‘Emmylou,’ obviously pays tribute to the country great Emmylou Harris.
